It's a "good" Good Friday.

It's a beautiful day outside! I hope it is just as beautiful tomorrow and Sunday!

Anywho, just a few pictures to update you:

Landon, my sleepy boy on the way to daycare

The flowers Aaron bought for me "just because."

Happy cause he just ate REAL mashed potatoes and green beans :)

Hmm... I'm also going to try to "jot down" a few things you might not know about me every so often. Here are a few to get started:

1. Sitting at home reading all day is one of my favorite ways to relax. I will read a book over and over and over again. I promise, you learn something new everytime!

2. I love camping and hiking. I prefer to do it in the actual mountains though...rather than the "hill country." Often when I go with my family, we remember the phrase "I be getting wet"--especially when it is raining while hiking. ;o)

3. I don't like the different kinds of food on my plate to mix together. For example. I don't want mashed potatoes to get on my macaroni and cheese, or corn to be mixed in with my green beans. Unless they are supposed to be mixed--as in a casserole. ;o)

4. One of my "guilty pleasures" is watching the show "Teen Mom" (1 or 2). For the most part, it is like when you are passing by a wreck -- you really don't want to see it but you just can't help but stare.

5. If I had to only eat one food for the rest of my life, I would choose a nice big plate of macaroni and cheese.

6. I have quit drinking Dr. Pepper for like the 6th or 7th or 20th time now. It has been since Feb 12, 2011 (this time. -- i had not had one for a whole year until this past November, when I "fell off the wagon" again)

7. I don't like it when people swear (use curse words, cuss, however you want to say it) around me. I feel the urge to offer them a bar of soap to clean out their mouth.

8. One of my pet peeves is when people don't use the words there/their/they're in the right context. If FaceBook was on paper, I'd have a red pen out :).

9. I love the smell of new books. They should make a cologne that smells like that, hehe.

10. I detest roaches. Small, medium, large, dead or alive-- I hate them all. I'd rather be stuck in a cage full of tigers than in a room with a live roach. Not exxagerating.

It's a Monday

It's not one of those terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day kind of Mondays, but just a regular ol' Monday.

It's one of those days when I just wish I could have slept a couple more minutes (although, Aaron fed Landon this morning, so I did get a few more minutes than normal--Thanks babe!). One of those days where I have "nothing to wear," and "nothing good to eat." But I've decided to have a positive attitude about today. I am thankful I woke up this morning. I am thankful for the many clothes in my closet (or in the dirty clothes hamper :) hehe), and thankful for the food in my pantry and refrigerator. It is one of those days where I miss my sweet boy like crazy, and wish Aaron didn't have to work shift work. But instead of complaining, I will be thankful that we are both employed and can put food on our table and not "want" for much (Oh sure, everyone "wants" a vacation home on some grand beach somewhere -- or on a mountain somewhere... but I'm talking regular "wants" here). I will be thankful that Landon has ladies that love him at his daycare, and that 95% of the time, he is happily playing when I pick him up-- and even more happy that I am there to get him.

Speaking of Landon, he is growing so fast! Started giving him "Puffs" this weekend, and at first, I was kind of giving them to him in smaller pieces...but he prefers them whole. He is perfecting the art of his "pincher" grasp, and even gets the puffs in his mouth occasionally! I am so ready for him to crawl, but terrified at the same time. Once he is "mobile"--that's it! I gotta make sure there is nothing on the floor that I don't want him to get to, gotta get some baby gates for the stairs, and for the kitchen. eeek! He's close, but not too close. He has also recently become aware of the fact that crying is a good way to get Mommy and Daddy (and whomever else!) to pay attention to him. Once I figure out how to post videos, I'll have to post the one of him and his new face he does. It is impossible to catch in a photo.

I have made it my new goal to get at least one picture of him a day. Yep, I'm gonna be one of "those" mommies :). Here is one of him from a while ago, just b/c I don't have any recent ones uploaded:

By the way, our team for the Down Syndrome League of Victoria has started our first fundraiser! Lauren's Love Patrol is raising money through Pampered Chef. Here is the link if you would like to purchase something: http://www.pamperedchef.biz/cookmatula?page=host-search-results&showId=3100362
Thanks in advance!

An Eventful Weekend

Well, I had a pretty busy couple of days off...

On Saturday morning, Aaron, Landon and I headed to Goliad Market Days -- I was on the hunt for a Wahoo board. If you've never played Wahoo, you are missing out! It is an old game, and it is kind of like the board games "Sorry" or "Trouble." Anywho... I got one! And to beat all, it is double-sided! One side is made for 4 players, and the other for 6. Can't wait to have a game night at our house... (oh wait, that means I gotta finish cleaning...maybe I can wait afterall :) hehe). I also found myself a new purse while we were there. I think it is too cute!

After Market Days, we turned around, met Aaron's Dad (Leroy) at our house and then headed to Houston for a little more shopping. That was Aaron's idea -- but I'm glad we went, cause we ended up going to Babies R Us and got Landon's new "big boy" car seat. He wasn't too excited about it at first, but he warmed up to it.
So hard to believe he is already 7 months old though! Anywho, we went to eat at Lupe Tortilla (highly recommend if you are ever in the Sugar Land area-- they have great fajitas, and great margaritas!) after all the shopping was done, and then headed home where I quickly fell asleep. It was a long, but fun day! We had planned on going to church on Sunday morning, but decided to just stay home and sit around in our pajamas for most of the day. I ended up getting a lot done around the house (YAY!) and even got to about 88% of the laundry (I maintain that you can never be completely done with laundry!)

Got up on Monday morning--you know, back to work as usual-- but Landon had other plans. He had thrown up in his bed (and never fussed or made a peep to let me know! Poor kid must have been all tuckered out. So I changed him into his clothes for the day and gave him his bottle.. After about three ounces, he pushed the bottle away, and proceeded to throw it all up again. Poor baby! Needless to say, I just changed him back into another sleeper, changed my clothes back into some new pajamas, and we had another pajama day--spent most of it in the recliner snuggling with my sweet boy. He smiled most of the day, even when he wasn't feeling good!
He is feeling much better today though, and we are both back to the regular 8-5 schedule of work and daycare.

Bear with me....

Okay, so I just randomly decided to create a blog today. Sounded like fun... I'm not promising anything interesting, but being a new mom, I thought it would be a great stress reliever.

Since this is my very first post, and I have in no way shape or form thought out what I wanted to say, I'll just say "hi" for now, and go about my merry way figuring this thing out. I'll be back soon :).
